On a dreary, drizzly Wednesday in Hong Kong, I took Hubby to The Peninsula Spa for his birthday. I chose the Weekday Spa Escape Promotion for Hubby, whilst I had the Mother-To-Be spa treatment. These are both half day treatment which includes the use of pools, their thermal lounge, 2 hours of treatment and lunch. We were there from 10am to 3:30pm just chillaxing the day away and it’s the ultimate escape from the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong!
To start the day off we got changed and was escorted to the swimming pool- that is, if you wanted to swim. We both really needed exercise so the 20ish metre pool was perfect for us doing laps. We spent about 45 mins there and then Hubby went off to the thermal lounge for steam and sauna, while I took a leisurely stroll to the relaxation room, where there is coconut water, bottled water, juices and fruits. Food aside, there are adjustable day beds with snuggly blankets, magazines and music for you to chillax. Not long after, my therapist came to invite me my harbourview treatment room for my Mother-To-Be treatment 😀
Female Change Rooms
My therapist was warm and caring, and we started off with a full body scrub, a gentle but effective body massage then a body mask. Obviously the body mask is not a heated wrap, as preggie ladies might get cooked in there! I was left floating back to the pool area where we finally get to have lunch at 2:30pm.
We were provided with a light spa menu which was super healthy (shhhh except for the bread and butter!). We get our choice of juices and hubby and I both chose the cleansing grapefruit juice. Sadly the bread on offer was cold- I would have expected hot bread from Peninsula! 😛
We both had the scallop starter, which was perfectly pan seared with zucchini strands.
The carb lover in me chose this really healthy turkey wholewheat pasta, which is cooked al dente. I just wish there is some cheese!! But Ok, ok, spa cuisine blah blah blah
Hubby had this very very healthy looking carb less tuna.
And dessert for hubby includes this pineapple citrusey icecream and creme brulee, which hubby said it tasted great.
My berry sorbet and hibiscus jelly was super refreshing.
It’s horrible weather outside but being at The Peninsula Spa we just felt cocooned in cozyness. The Peninsula Spa was certainly an ultimate getaway from it all. We will be back!
