photo 1 [800x600]My fellow foodie friend Ms VL suggested meeting up for high tea at one of the high end restaurants in Central called Sevva.  Apparently on the weekend the queue is out the door for one of these HKD$680 (AUD$100) for 2 pax high tea so I am excited!

photo 5 [800x600]Our top tier includes Sevva veggie spring roll, toasted crumpets with smoked salmon, mini crab cake burger.  I didn’t have the spring roll as it has prawns, but the crab cake burger was sensational.

photo 3 [800x600]Our second tier consists of a mini short rib burger, which was delicious; Turkey & salad sandwich (meh); Chicken roll sandwhich (meh), a sensational truffled scrambled egg and wild mushroom ragout on crispy rice crackers.

photo 4 [800x600]We were getting pretty full by then, but our last tier was of course, the sweet tier.  I was a bit disappointed that there are no scones.  Funnily enough, this is the only tier where there are two pieces for SOME of the food items, so we don’t have to do the ugly thing and cut stuff in half.  The sweets were a bit forgettable, but what stood out for me was the caramel cake.  I don’t even like caramel cake but this one doesn’t taste too caramelly and it was soft and fluffy.  The chocolate fudge cake and the mini Mont Blanc was quite good, but the carrot cake and the rest of it (choc dipped strawberry and cigar wafer cookies) were meh.

All in all, it was a nice afternoon tea in a very nice setting, but with the amount we paid for per head I expected something better than this.
