The F.T Tuckshop

One fine day I was feeling a bit dodgey, so I decided to explore the sides streets of South Melbourne. I stumbled across this backstreet with trucks and bins and discovered The F.T. Tuckshop. With fake grass and brightly decorated outdoor seating, this place specialises in… JAFFLES, Shakes and sandwiches! Sadly I already had brunch that morning, so I promised myself to visit it next time. But alas I never found this street again.
I even brought Monkylicious and Shoe Queen for a hunt around and they thought I dreamt up this place. I think I decided to finally google search “jaffles, South Melbourne” one day cos I just can’t get this place out of my head, and found out that it’s on Charles St. It just so happened that Daisy Never Too Sweet for Me, Mr. Bao and I decided to go on a doggie playdate and we needed an outdoor area, so I suggested The F.T. Tuckshop to her.
We all decided to try their milkshake cos it looks so darn good! You can make your own combo so I ordered nutella and peanut butter with soy, Mr. Bao ordered Milo and Coffee and Daisy ordered Banoffee. I think I could safely say we all loved our milkshakes! (even XX the doggie when we accidentally dropped some on the ground and he enthusiastically licked it all up!)
Jaffles time!!!!! We (OK, I) kinda can’t decide what we wanted, so we (OK, maybe I suggested firmly ;P) decided to order a few to share. I think we ordered 6 jaffles between the four of us (high five to us all- I think it was a great effort in our part, but there is actually 14 different types of jaffles! Imagine that! There are about 11 normal jaffles which are $4.5 and 3 “deluxe” ones which are $5.5.
Oppss I think I forgot to take pics of some of them, but first up was chicken w pesto and mayo. Sadly they didn’t have pesto but we put our trust in the chef and she made us curried chicken ones. I quite like the taste of it but felt that the chicken was a bit too dry.
Next up was ham cheese and tomato (pictured). Such simple combination but oh-so-fabulously creamy cheese and delicious ham made this drool-worthy.
The “Higgo” pictured here is a turkey, cranberry and cheese combo- the one I love most cos the turkey was deliciously smokey.
I think in the order of deliciousness in my opinion, I would choose:
2) Ham cheese tomato
3) Spag Bol but Banana nutella would be a close 4th!
Next time I would definitely try the “deluxe selection” also which apparently includes cheeseburger, chicken parma and kransky!
Ricky did the gentlemanly thing and walked the two doggies out, navigating through the cobblestoned streets and bins so this clumsy pregnant lady won’t stack it :P It’s been a wonderful playdate (for the humans at least!) and I can’t wait to meet up with Daisy and Ricky again :)
