Hakata Ikkousha 博多一幸舍

We were actually trying to visit Butao Ramen eatly one day in Causeway Bay, but for some reason Butao was under renovations that day.  Desperately wanting ramen, we spotted that Hakata Ikkousha Ramen 博多一幸舍 was just across the road.  For some reason I remembered that Hakata Ikkousha 博多一幸舍 is also quite famous, so I only hesitated for a min or so before ducking into the fairly empty restaurant.  In fact, at 11:45am we are the only customers in there.

photo 1 [800x600]What I really like about this place is that it let’s you choose the saltiness and oiliness of your soup, whether you want your noodles al dente or soft and whether you wanted spring onion.  There are also really awesome condiments like raw garlic (hubby’s favourite), secret ramen sauce (!), fried sesame, chilli pickled vegies etc.

photo 4 [800x600]Hubby ordered the super chilli ramen HKD$78 (Approx AUD$11) and I ordered the slightly chilli fish roe flavour HKD$78.  Hubby absolutely loved his- I rarely hear him say “the food is good”!  Normally he would just say “it’s okay”.  I love mine also, although I am dying to try his super chilli ramen, mine had a nice seafoody flavour.  I still like the curly noodles better, but this noodle was nicely al dente and the pork was super tender.

photo 5 [800x600]We also ordered the potato salad, but sadly that was a little bit disappointing.  It’s more eggy than potatoey and it tasted more like egg mayo.  Not a big fan.

Ultimately, at Hakata Ikkousha 博多一幸舍, the ramen is the star.
